Burglars Arrested After Chase in Half Moon Bay
Sheriff's deputies nab suspects on Tuesday.
A man and a woman who allegedly stole jewelry and two firearms from an El Granada residence were arrested yesterday afternoon by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, the agency announced this morning.
Sergio Vidrio, 27, of Half Moon Bay and Laura Alisha Sanabria, 20, of Moss Beach, are suspects in the case.
The pair has been charged with residential burglary, possession of stolen property and auto theft.
Deputies were dispatched to the house located in the 400 block of El Granada Blvd. on Tuesday, the Sheriff's Office said. According to the county Sheriff's Office, entry to the house was accessed from a back window.
Witnesses reported seeing a gold Prius parked in front of the house on Tuesday morning, a car which had been reported stolen from Princeton on Jan. 15, the Sheriff's Office said.
The Sheriff was alerted to the pair's whereabouts when a Sheriff's deputy first witnessed a gold Prius drive southbound on Highway 1, then turn on the road leading to Venice Beach. On the way, the two abandoned the vehicle, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Vidrio and Sanabria were captured by deputies with the agency's Search Team after the two ran through the field adjacent to Venice Beach, the agency said. Deputies located at Pilarcitos Ave. and Wave Ave. caught the pair on the other side, according to the Sheriff's Office.
At 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, the Sheriff's Office initiated an evidence search in the field near Venice Beach. Deputies did find numerous items of stolen property, but not the firearms.
The Sheriff's Office asks that any person with information about this incident should contact Detective Jim Gilletti at 650-363-4066 or the Sheriff’s Office Anonymous Witness Line at 800-547-2700.
