Norovirus Outbreak Sickens Over 100 Pacifica Kids

The San Mateo County Health Department confirmed that a norovirus outbreak at two Pacifica schools sickened more than a hundred students last week. 

One Pacifica parent said the policy was, "if you throw-up, you go home," ABC7 reported on Friday. 

According to ABC7, most of the sick students were at , but there were some reported cases at as well.

School administrators said that students from the two schools often socialize, ABC7 reported. The virus appeared around 10 days ago, and school staff has tried to rid all surfaces of it. 

Friday was the second community-led all-school cleaning day, where parents and teachers chipped in to scrub down surfaces, ABC7 reported. 

If your student is showing symptoms of the norovirus (vomiting or watery diarrhea or both, fever, headache, cramping or abdominal pain), you shouldn't send them to school, health officials say. It is best that they remain symptom free for 48-72 hours before heading back to school.
