Patch Users Show & Tell How They Viewed the Eclipse

[Editor's Note: Several Patch users were kind enough to upload their photos and tell us of their experiences viewing the eclipse.]

Sunday's partial drew out many an amateur astronomer, including this editor.

With my cardboard, tin foil and safety pin, I headed up to the top of one of Belmont's hills with my assistant Nellie, and I was able to view the eclipse, which, as promised by the experts, was most visible at 6:33 p.m.

In Half Moon Bay, Cameron's Campground, Inn and Restaurant hosted an afternoon of astronomy viewing. Host was Steve White of Scope City, San Francisco, who had a special telescope that can show solar flares and prominences.

Ken Perkins said this about his viewing experience in San Carlos: "Joan, you should have been at the San Carlos Public Library for the eclipse. I've just uploaded some of my photos of the spectacular display inside the library dome."

And Denny Lawhern of Belmont used a 400mm lens to capture some amazing shots of the "ring of fire."
