VIDEO: Gray Whale Washed Ashore On Pescadero State Beach

Video from footage shot on June 16.

Earlier this month, a young gray whale washed up on Pescadero State Beach south of Half Moon Bay. A necropsy of the 25-foot whale performed by the Marine Mammal Center found that the 1-2 year old whale sustained trauma to its head and thorax.

Watch a short video of the whale here, edited together with footage shot on June 16, 2011.

This was the second time in eight months that a whale washed ashore a Pescadero Beach.

In October, a blue whale and her fetus were found at Bean Hollow State Beach.
