Half Moon Bay City Councilmember Marina Fraser will serve as Chair of the San Mateo County Council of Cities after being elected to the post by the 20 mayors of cities within San Mateo County. Last year, she held the position of Secretary/Treasurer of the association.
The San Mateo County Council of Cities is a countywide association that provides a monthly educational forum for local councilmembers and city staff of all 20 cities in San Mateo County. Members meet monthly to discuss matters of interest for the enhancement of public health, safety and welfare of our local communities.
"I am deeply honored to Chair this esteemed group of public servants in San Mateo County,” stated Councilmember Marina Fraser. “The association provides a great forum for city leaders to engage with one other and share insights on the issues that are most vital to our local communities."
Councilmember Fraser was elected to her third term on the Half Moon Bay City Council in November 2012. She has served as Mayor in 2006 and 2010.
Also elected as incoming officers of the San Mateo County Council of Cities are Vice Chair Mary Ann Nihart, Mayor Pro Tem of Pacifica, and Elizabeth Lewis, Mayor of Atherton. The outgoing Chair is Maryann Derwin, Mayor of Portola Valley.
Councilmember Fraser’s term as Chair will last one year.
