The San Mateo County Parks and Recreation Foundation needs your help to purchase new universal access fire rings at 60 campsites within Memorial County Park on Pescadero Creek Road in Loma Mar.
The organization recently posted this crowdfunding project to raise funds for the campfire rings, which have a tip back grate that is easy to use with an outside ring that provides a heat barrier.
Currently old brick campfires with heavy metal grills are provided within the park.
Camping, eating s'mores and telling ghost stories around the campfire are treasured memories for many Coastsiders. By installing these new universal access campfire rings, we will make camping more accessible to all residents and preserve the camping tradition for many years to come.
Each fire ring unit costs $425. The dismantling of the old fire rings and the installation of the new ones will also cost $425 each but through a combination of County Park Ranger staff time working with volunteers this part of the project will be taken of. It's the actual new fire rings that are needed, totaling $25,500.
