Harvest Moon in Full Bloom Over Half Moon Bay

Did you snap a picture of the 2013 Harvest Moon? See photos of last night's full moon taken by your Coastside neighbors.

From Moss Beach and El Granada to Miramar, Half Moon Bay and Pescadero, some Coastside residents snapped shots of the full moon over Half Moon Bay last night and early this morning.

This full moon is a special one. With the autumnal equinox set to fall on Sept. 22, the 2013 Harvest Moon was in full bloom Wednesday night.

The term "Harvest Moon" or "Corn Moon," is used to describe the full moon that occurs closest to fall's equinox. The full moon was expected to rise shortly after sunset on Sept. 18 and peak around 10 a.m. Thursday morning.
