A 7- to 10-foot swell, which could occasionally go to 20 feet, hit the coast in San Francisco, the North Bay and the Peninsula Saturday afternoon and is expected to last through the weekend, the weather service said.

Beach-goers and fishermen are urged to be cautious, as "sneaker"  waves and strong rip-tides can catch them unaware.
