Obituary: Expert Half Moon Bay Fisherman Dies

Glenn, 85, passed away in his home in Los Altos. He was born in Los Gatos to parents Hazel and Harley Warren.

Glenn attended Ravenswood Grammar School in Palo Alto and Sequoia High School in Redwood City. He completed high school in 3 years so he could enlist in the U.S. Navy serving in WWII in the Philippine Islands.

After his discharge Glenn was employed as foreman at McCallahan Tree Surgery in Palo Alto. Shortly after, he opened his own business in San Jose called S&W Equipment, selling, renting and servicing power garden equipment. The business was so successful that he relocated to a new larger store on Stevens Creek Blvd. in San Jose. In 1970 he sold S&W Equipment and began investing in real estate specializing in residential homes in Mtn. View, Palo Alto and Sunnyvale.

In 1990 Glenn retired and began to fully enjoy his favorite outdoor sports of fishing in rivers, the ocean, and camping. Another hobby was golfing with his brothers-in-law Jack Tonnesen and David Wittman. He was an expert at salmon fishing in Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay areas. He owned and sold 5 boats during this time - the last one called "Glenn's Fish Finder." His first boat was named after his wife "Sunny." He knew how to get along!

Glenn was also passionate about his now deceased dogs Maggy, Honeybunch, Penny and Miss Dazey, and several cats during his lifetime. He had a soft spot for abandoned animals. Glenn's garden and 14 fruit trees were his pride and joy and enjoyed sharing the produce with everyone including passersby.

He married his high school sweetheart "Sunny" in 1959. Their friendship started in the first year of grammar school. Glenn always had a twinkle in his eye, loved his family, and his passing will leave an empty space that no one could fill. 

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years "Sunny" Eleanor Warren, niece Angela and husband Paul Bernaciak, grand nephew "JT" Jonathan Tomaka, sisters-in-law Linda Tonnesen, Christine Tonnesen, grand nephews Mark and wife Susan, and Scott Tonnesen.
