Speier Visits Dog Park Fundraising Event in Half Moon Bay

Funds raised will replace a dilapidated fence and go toward the expansion of the community dog park in Half Moon Bay.

U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier attended a fundraiser on Saturday aimed at getting a new fence for the dog park at Smith Field in Half Moon Bay.

The fundraising event began at 11 a.m. with the goal of raising $35K to replace an extremely dilapidated fence. Funds raised also will go toward the expansion of the community dog park.

Speier, known for being very supportive of off-leash areas for dogs, offered to auction off a VIP luncheon and tour of Congress for the cause.

"It was very exciting for us to have Congresswoman Speier attend our event," said Marcia Reilly, president of Patrons of the Half Moon Bay Dog Park. " ... We're planning a gala fundraiser in January with this package [from Speier] and several other donated goodies as a second wave of our focused effort to revamp our park."

Cameron Palmer, owner of Cameron's Inn, Pub & Restaurant, donated $1,000 to the cause.

The Half Moon Bay Dog Park is located on Wavecrest Road in Half Moon Bay near Cameron's Inn, Pub & Restaurant.
