Video: Awesome Aerial View of the Half Moon Bay International Marathon

See the marathon runners — at the start of the race and along the bluffs of Half Moon Bay — from the air above.

Half Moon Bay photographer Steve Maller asked the organizers of the Half Moon Bay International Marathon if he could fly over their race and film some of the moments from the air.

“They gratefully agreed, and today I did it,” he writes on Vimeo where he posted the 2-minute video. “I really enjoyed myself, and congratulate all the runners, the volunteers, and the organizers for what looked like a very successful day!”

Maller is the chief pilot at PerspectivAIR, unique and dynamic images from “drones,” small unmanned aerial systems. He also has a commercial and creative photography business called Mallermedia.

Maller filmed the marathon with a Cinestar 8 octocopter and the Panasonic GH3 camera. No stabilization added, using the Freefly Systems 2-axis gimbal with Freefly's Radian stabilizers on both axes.
