Who Is the Half Moon Bay Person of the Year?

TIME magazine named President Barack Obama their person of the year. Tell us who you think should win from our town!

On Dec. 19, Time magazine named President Barack Obama as their Person of the Year.

“For finding and forging a new majority, for turning weakness into opportunity and for seeking, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union, Barack Obama is TIME's 2012 Person of the Year,” Time managing editor Richard Stengel explained in his note to readers.

The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including Obama, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle.

But who cares about the same-old, same-old? Who is Half Moon Bay’s Person of the Year—the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse?”

Tell us your pick in the comment section below!

Mike Alifano. I don't know him personally but he seems to be involved in so much with the community, Rotary, fire board (for now at least), Girls and Boys Club, school district, PALs, family man, local business, anything else?
Harvey Rarback December 28, 2012 at 09:10 pm
John Lynch. He is tireless in working for the community. He has spent countless hours working for Coastside Hope, for the Fireboard recall election, for many environmental causes. He worked hard to make the Tunnel a reality over a decade ago. Pretty good for an 87-year old!

Mike Alifano, his involvement in this community is incredible and poorly appreciate by some members of this community. Keep the good work Mike!

His work for Coastside Hope is admirable, but John Lynch is one of the most divisive political forces on the Coastside. No chance.

I vote for John Lynch. He stands up for what he believes in and commits his time and energy selflessly!
NOT Mike Alifano, because of the damage he has done and continues to do to our fire and emergency services and staff. There is a well supported recall election coming up because of his actions and the excessive costs he imposes on taxpayers in the District. Recalles do not deserve accolades!

Agreed! The Coastside is fortunate to have him.

Paul Perkovic!

Even folks like me who did not see eye to eye with Paul Perkovic on coastal issues have a great deal of admiration for him. I think it would be a nice honor.
