1,704-Lb. Pumpkin Outside City Hall

Head downtown for an up-close look at the prizewinning gourd.

Leonardo Urena's prizewinning — certainly the "it girl" of the fall season since it broke the California state record on Monday — is on display today in its full glory outside Half Moon Bay City Hall (Kelly St. side).

Urena was by the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth for growing three giant pumpkins in 2011 weighing a record total of nearly 5,000 lbs.

If you want a good look the pumpkin before tomorrow's festival crowds — head on down there now for your photo op.

Half Moon Bay City Council member Marina Fraser, who took the attached photo, reports that the pumpkin is already getting its share of attention from the public this afternoon.
