Bobby Socks, Brylcreem and a Touch of Humor Characterize 'Wonderettes'

'50s-era production at Coastal Rep opens tonight in Half Moon Bay.

Those with an appetite for mid-century nostalgia can head over to Half Moon Bay's to see a musical about life when bobby socks and Brylcreem ruled the day.

"The Marvelous Wonderettes" centers around the reunion of four friends from high school with wistful hopes and dreams that are "as big as their crinoline skirts" and have "voices to match," according to the theater.

The four friends — portrayed by Coastal Rep veterans Courtney Hatcher, Kimberly Krol, Beth Guido and Phaedra Tillery — perform arrangements of ‘50s classics throughout, including "Mr. Sandman," "Lollipop," "All I Have To Do Is Dream," "Sincerely" and "Sugartime."
