Coast Guard Photo Contest: Vote for the People's Choice Award

A sample of 10 of the top 40 photos of 600 submitted.

Though its San Francisco Sector is based at Yerba Buena Island, the U.S. Coast Guard has a presence on the Half Moon Bay and the California Coast, with responsibilities that include domestic vessel inspection, container inspection, and inspections of commercial fishing vessels for compliance with industry requirements and regulations.

The response unit of the Coast Guard covers hazardous materials and oil spill response, vessel traffic management and homeland security issues.

The photo gallery below consists of 10 of the top 40 photos being considered for the People's Choice Award in the U.S. Coast Guard Photo Contest. All photographers are members of the Coast Guard.
