The Digital Bookmobile will make a mostly analog appearance in Half Moon Bay late in April.
The 18-wheel tractor-trailer Bookmobile gives instruction to patrons on how to use the free eBook and eAudiobook download services available through the San Mateo County Library.
You'll be able to catch the rolling tour at the Half Moon Bay Library on Thursday, April 26 between 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
At the event, readers will be taught how to download eBooks and eAudiobooks from the Library through interactive demonstrations and high-definition instructional videos.
A gadget gallery on hand - featuring Kindle, iPod touch, Android tablet, NOOK, Sony Reader, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and more - will help users discover portable devices that are compatible with the Library’s download service.
“The Library is excited to be able to offer the Digital Bookmobile to our community,” said Anne Marie Despain, Director of Library Services.
“Since the Library first introduced eBooks, we have witnessed the popularity of this format and the incredible demand for downloadable services. We are constantly adding to the collection.”
Library customers can take advantage of the download service at any time of day when they visit the county library’s website.
There, they can browse a growing collection of bestselling, new release, and classic titles and check out a digital title with a valid library card.
Once downloaded, users can enjoy digital titles on a computer or transfer the content to supported mobile devices.
At the end of the lending period, titles will automatically expire and are returned to the digital collection. One of the true advantages of digital downloads: There are never late fees or damaged items.
