Oakland Gospel Choirs Bring Down the House

Uplifting, rousing performance in front of a packed crowd in Half Moon Bay last night.

Thanks to three Coastsiders (Miramar resident Peter Bland, Half Moon Bay resident Kellie Morlock and Moss Beach resident Nancy Zumwalt), Half Moon Bay was treated to not just one, but two gospel choir performances on Saturday night.

The 's youth and adult choirs sang in front of a packed house at the .

The appreciative crowd clapped, swayed, and danced to the tunes of hymns and spirituals featuring a series of soloists.

Both Bland and Morlock took to the stage as soloists. While Bland sang "King of Glory," Morlock belted out "Blessings and Honor," while Sharon Henderson soloed "Glory Song" alongside the choir's rich harmonies.

The youth choir provided a volume and depth of sound beyond their years.

Directors Terrance Kelly (adult choir) and Marcellus Kidd (youth choir) brought both energy and charisma to the stage.

Audience members gave the choirs a series of standing ovations throughout the evening.

 

The choir will be releasing their latest material on October 2 at a CD release concert in Berkeley, and will hold holiday concerts at the Paramount Theater in Oakland (Dec. 3), at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts (Dec. 16) and at the Unitarian Church in Oakland (youth choir - Dec. 18).
