'Of Men and Mavericks' Production in San Mateo Today

Film starring Gerard Butler about life of late Mavericks surfer Jay Moriarity will shut down several streets.

Production of , a feature film being shot primarily and starring Gerard Butler and Elisabeth Shue, moves to San Mateo today after shooting in Pacifica for two days.

Between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Hacienda Street between 31st Avenue and 26th Avenue will face closures to through traffic and street parking, according to the San Mateo Police Department.

In addition, between 4 p.m. and 2 a.m., the production crew will be filming in the area of 25th Avenue between El Camino Real and Flores Street. Through traffic and street parking will also be affected in that area, police said.

The San Mateo Police Department and city have been working with the production company to minimize the impacts of the filming, according to police.

The film production company has taken the responsibility of contacting and notifying any potentially impacted residents or businesses in the area to facilitate any needed access during the production.

Of Men and Mavericks is due to be released in October 2012.
