PHOTOS: Horsing Around At Pony Camp

Check out photos of pony campers learning the ropes of farm life and horse riding on the Coast.

Every summer horse crazy kids beg their parents to sign them up for pony camp at some of Half Moon Bay's most notable ranches. To see what all the fuss is about, Half Moon Bay Patch asked some of these ranches to send in their best pony camp photos.

There seems to be no better way to learn the ropes about farm life and caring for an animal than at one of these camps. At horse camp, kids are assigned to a pony or horse for the week, and are given lessons on how to catch, groom and tack-up. They also learn how to feed, muck out a stall, and clean saddles and bridles. Practicing riding skills such as steering, trotting, and cantering on their ponies in an arena and on trails is also part of the experience.

Here are some shots sent in from Lazy "H" Ranch, Moss Beach Ranch and Pastorino's Farm. We'd love to see your photos, too, so if you have any photos of your little pony camper this summer, please upload them with this article.
