September is Rich in Things to Do on the Coast
From cultural events and farm-to-table feasts to a street festival, rodeo and more, there is no reason to go anywhere else this month but along the Coast from Pacifica to Half Moon Bay and Pescadero.
September is here, and the San Mateo County Coast, from Pacifica to Pescadero, is teeming with fun things to do this month.

Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting at Cunha Grocery, Half Moon Bay

Cunha’s Country Grocery reopened in June under the ownership of the Khoury family, who own grocery stores in Palo Alto, Windsor and Napa. The store welcomes locals and tourists to celebrate this landmark’s reopening with a ribbon cutting and celebration, giving yet another reason to visit historic Main Street in Half Moon Bay. Fresh produce from local farmers and a revamped butcher counter with great specials on organic cuts of meat are just a couple of the highlights at the new Cunha.

Rancho Day Fiesta at Sanchez Adobe, Pacifica
Sept. 8, Noon to 4 p.m.
The San Mateo County Historical Association will present the annual Rancho Day Fiesta at Sanchez Adobe in Pacifica. Families will enjoy early California music and participatory dancing. Rancho style refreshments will be available. Demonstration of bygone trades and craft activities for children will be featured. There will be a $1 suggested donation with additional charges for food and crafts.

Mavericks Oktoberfest Ale & Pumpkin Harvest Ale Release Party at HMB Brewing Company, Half Moon Bay
Sept. 12, 6 to 7 p.m.
In the Mavericks Beer Garden at the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company, admission is free in honor of the annual Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. Half Moon Bay Brewing Company joins pubs across the world in a festive celebration of beer and food. Guests will join Brewmaster Kirk Hillyard for the release of his annual Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Harvest Ales at a special release party, with highlights of the Oktoberfest menu presented by executive chef Gaston Alfara.

20th Annual Best Buck in the Bay Rodeo and Festival, La Honda
Sept. 14-16
It's a buckin' good time, whether you're a seasoned rodeo veteran or this is your first. Grab a drink, sit with friends or make new ones, and watch the ropin', ridin' and wrestlin'. ($15 per day). Dress in period clothing, the prizes will be many for best cowpoke, authentic Sheriff and Saloon girls. Its goin’ to be a Hootin’, Rootin’, Boot scootin’, helluva good time… whiskey for everyone. The air will be filled with Catfish and Ribs BBQ, the camping will be plenty and the steak dinner will be the best the West has to offer.

6th Annual "Taste of the Coast," Half Moon Bay
Sept. 16, 5 to 8 p.m.
Dine, dance and make a difference at the 6th Annual Taste of the Coast, supporting .
Sample the Coast’s finest cuisine, shop the silent auction and sip fine wine and spirits for $60 per person in advance ($50 for Seniors 65+) and includes delightful music and a raffle ticket for exciting door prizes. Admission will also be available at the door for $75. One free raffle ticket ($5 value) is included with each paid admission.

Dine, Dance and Donate - Celebrates 25 Unforgettable Years as a Pioneer in Farm to Table, Half Moon Bay
Sept. 22, 6 to 10 p.m.
This 25th Anniversary Gala Celebration will honor local farmers, ranchers & gourmet artisans. The entire restaurant and Creek-side Garden will be peppered with local farmers and ranchers serving their fresh produce prepared by Kim and the Pasta Moon Chefs. Elegant Cheesecake and Go to Chocolate's divine desserts are also on the menu. Sumptuous food, wine, live music and dancing is the program for the evening. All of the proceeds will be donated to the participating local farmers, ranchers and fishermen to support their hard work and effort. Dress code is “Coastside Glam.” Tickets are $150 per person.

Pie Ranch Presents The Search for Good Food, Pescadero
Sept. 22, 3 to 10 p.m.
Join Pie Ranch for a beautiful day of outdoor exploration, good food and community.
At this 4th annual fundraiser, you will explore the farm on a fun and educational afternoon scavenger hunt, and then cool off with appetizers and locally crafted wine and beer before dinner.
You will then take your seat at our long farm table for a phenomenal repast prepared by the executive chefs and culinary team from Google. A gourmet, multi-course organic feast featuring Coastside produce and paired with delicious local wines. After dinner, we will continue the celebration with freshly baked pie, live music and dancing in a roadside barn. The Farm Wide Scavenger Hunt starts at 3 p.m. and then segues into to appetizers, dinner, pie and dancing, starting at 4 p.m.
Individual ticket price are $200. All proceeds from this event will fund programming that teaches youth about healthy food and communities, trains emerging farmers and creates a more sustainable food system.

27th Annual Pacific Coast Fog Fest, Pacifica
Sept. 29-30, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
It’s almost time for Fog Fest, the open-air street festival with arts and crafts, music and booze, food and family-friendly fun. The festival boasts more than 150 arts and crafts booths, many featuring local artisans, as well as contests and an amusement area that has, in festivals past, included a giant “super slide,” rock climbing wall and other attractions for kids.
The parade’s theme for this year is, “Pacifica Loves Music.” The parade will begin at 10 a.m.
The Fog Jog is a 5-mile race and awards will be given to the top three finishers in each division and, participation ribbons to all registered finishers. The Stride is a 3-mile, non-competitive walk and participation ribbons will handed out to all registered finishers.
This event is free and open to the public. There’s much, much going on at this year’s Fog Fest so check here for more details.
