Shely Pack Dancers Win Three State Titles

Students from local studio complete a near-sweep of prestigious state competition earlier this month.

Half Moon Bay made its mark on the competitive dance scene when students from the Shely Pack Dancers studio took home three of four titles awarded at the Dance Masters of California competition held on Nov. 5 and 6 in Santa Clara.

Shely Pack dancer Jasmine Franklin won the Petite Miss Dance of California title, Gabrielle Pariseau was awarded the Teen Miss Dance of California title, and Matlynn Henry took home the title of Miss Dance of California.

"Winning the regional titles means that Jasmine, Gabrielle and Matlynn reached a personal goal in dance which will offer them the opportunity to compete on a national level," said Shely Pack-Manning, a former professional dancer who has taught students for 40 years.

The national Dance Masters of America Annual Convention and Competition will be held in Anaheim in July.

"To me as their teacher, [the wins] validate all the hard work and time invested in these three wonderful students," Pack-Manning said.
