This Weekend: Songbirds, Hot Glass, Fred Ross and More

Ideas on how to spend some time off in Half Moon Bay.

Enjoy the Hot Glass Experience - a class that will allow you to make your own paperweight, heart or glass pumpkin. We show you how to shape, color and manipulate the hot glass to your desired shape. Ages 10-97 welcome. $40. Glass project is available for pick up the next day or can be mailed for an additional $6.

Expert Alvaro Jaramillo will lead a workshop to study behavior, field marks, ecology and migratory patterns of local birds and then lead us on a walk in the field.

Meet at the Smith Field parking lot at the end of Wavecrest Road. The Bird Walk is free for everyone. Dress in layers, wear sturdy shoes, and bring binoculars if you have them. Both events are suitable for families.

Kids' MusicRound (KMR) is a singing, laughing, giggling, jiggling, clapping, dancing, bouncing, fun-filled, award-winning music and movement experience for infants and children to age seven. This young age is when your child's innate music potential is actively developing. With the KMR children's music program, parents can help bring out a child's natural curiosity about music in a playful, encouraging class environment.

*The Fred Ross Project, Douglas Beach House, 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., 311 Mirada Rd, Half Moon Bay, Sunday, May 29, $35 (event description by organizer)

Soul/Funk/Blues & dancing with singer, songwriter, producer, musician Fred Ross.  Fred has recorded with Aretha Franklin, members of Tower of Power, Santana, Chaka Kahn, the Commodores, and more, Toured US & Europe with Everyday People, and Fred Wesley of the James Brown Band. His band is notorious for their tributes to favorites like Sly Stone and more.  This is a return engagement after they boogied down the house last year.
