VIDEO: Jazz, Chamber, Roots Banjoist Comes to Half Moon Bay

See Jayme Stone at the Bach later this month.

On March 18, Miramar's will host Jayme Stone, winner of the 2011 Canadian Folk Award for Best Instrumentalist.

Stone, a banjoist who bridges folk, jazz, chamber and world music, brings an eclectic approach to his work.

Music from Stone's latest album "World Of Wonders" includes a movement from Bachʼs French Suite and a Moorish sword-fighting dance, as well as influences from Norway, Sweden, Bulgaria, Brazil, Italy and North America.

Accompanying Stone are musicians Sandra Wong (playing nyckelharpa, a swedish-keyed fiddle), Andrew Small (bass) and Nick Fraser (drummer and composer).

Stone will perform at the Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society (Douglas Beach House) in Half Moon Bay on Mar. 18 at 4 pm at 311 Mirada Road. Tickets cost $35.
