This video shows the fascinating process of how local artist Douglass C. Brown creates his artful, hand-blown glass pumpkins from start to finish.
Most weekends, you can find Brown in his studio, just behind the La Nebbia Winery on Highway 92, creating all manner of glass sculptures - but October is a time for pumpkins, and so he has been focused on making pumpkins for months.
This weekend, Oct. 8-10, he will display roughly 1,000 of these pieces - every one completely unique - at the 3rd Annual Glass Pumpkin Patch at La Nebbia Winery. He will demonstrate glass-blowing and a new multicolored technique he calls "tiramisu."
Brown's studio's web page is HMBArtGlass.com. There, you can find out more about his work. He also teaches the art from short, 15-minute to longer four-hour sessions.
