VIEWFINDER PHOTOS: Driftwood Comes Alive

Driftwood sculptures grow as summer turns to fall.

Winter storms move a fair amount of wood from the hills, down the creeks to the ocean which wears it smooth and washes it back on shore.

Beachgoers then sculpt the wood into shelters and art pieces that sometimes look like Salvador Dali paintings.

Most of these structures will be found where the creeks meet the ocean, such as San Gregorio Creek, Tunitas Creek, Pomponio Creek and Pescadero Creek.
