Cabrillo Unified School Board Seeks Community Input on District's Strategic Plan

The new strategic plan will focus on the work and resources of the school district for the next three to five years.

The Governing Board of the Cabrillo Unified School District announced Friday the development of a new strategic plan.

The plan will focus the work and resources of the District for the next three to five years. This process is critical as the District is poised to transition to new Common Core State Standards, develop technology rich classrooms, and move forward with a comprehensive facility master plan. The strategic plan will serve as our road map to ensure our instructional programs meet these and other community supported initiatives.

Broad community input is needed to assist the District in developing its strategic goals. The District has scheduled two Community Forums and an on-line survey for this purpose.

The Community Forums will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26 and on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Both events will be held in the multi-use room at Half Moon Bay High School and begin at 6 p.m.

These forums provide a means for all members of the Coastside community to inform the Governing Board. The online survey will be available in English and Spanish from Monday, Sept.23 through Friday, Oct. 25. The surveys can be accessed at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CUSD_Eng (English) and http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CUSD_Sp (Spanish).

Paper copies of the survey will be available at each school office, as well as the district office located at 498 Kelly Ave. in Half Moon Bay.

Following the collection of stakeholder input, data will be analyzed to identify themes. This information will be presented to the Governing Board at its regular meeting on Thursday, Nov. 14.

The resulting information will then be turned over to the Board appointed Strategic Plan Steering Committee. This committee is advisory to the Governing Board. The committee will determine which themes to develop into District-wide goals. The committee will then create specific benchmark activities and metrics to measure the success of the District in meeting each goal. The Strategic Plan Steering Committee will report to the Governing Board each month.

Once the plan is completed, the committee will present the plan to Governing Board. The Governing Board intends to formally adopt the strategic plan this spring.
