VIDEO: PTO Prez Raps to Parents at Back to School Night

"We are the PTO" rap gets the message across to El Granada Elementary parents about the school's fundraising needs.

El Granada Elementary PTO president Shannon Parsons took a different approach to reaching parents at back to school night Thursday.

She rapped the PTO’s mission and fundraising goals this year to the delight and amazement of her audience in the multi purpose room at the elementary school.

After introducing herself and the other members of the PTO, Parsons asked for some audience participation, instructing the crowd of parents to clap, clap, snap.

As the audience gets going with the beat, Parson launches into a rap, telling parents very effectively that “we’re the PTO, and we need your help, to raise a lot of dough.”

The school is hoping to raise $100,000 to maintain their art, music, science, PE and library programs and provide support for the teachers.

"I'm excited for our community to share in our educational journey," said Parsons.
