Deceased Body Washed Up on Beach Believed to be Missing Woman

Ara Ghorgyi Ward was last seen on Montara State Beach June 12.

On Wednesday, June 19, around 7:15 p.m. San Mateo County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a female body washed up along the beach in the area of Pomponio State Beach.

It is now believed the deceased body is that of Ara Ghorgyi of San Mateo who was reported missing the morning of June 13 from Montara State Beach.

The cause of death is undetermined.

Police and California State Park Rangers had been searching for the 48-year-old woman, who went missing after spending the night of June 12 with her boyfriend on Montara State Beach, according to Dep. Rebecca Rosenblatt of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

The next morning when the boyfriend awoke, Ward was gone, according to police. The boyfriend then reported her missing to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office on the morning of June 13.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office investigation is ongoing at this time in conjunction with the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office.
