Chipotle to Open in Petaluma

Ninety percent of all retail space at the new Target shopping center has been rented, the North Bay Business Journal is reporting

Hey Chipotle lovers!

The “healthy burrito” chain is opening a location in Petaluma inside the new Target shopping center on East Washington, the North Bay Business Journal is reporting.

Other new tenants are Beverages & More, which already has five North Bay locations, and JPMorgan Chase Bank.

Other tenants will include Ulta Beauty, a cosmetics store, Dick’s Sporting Goods, TJ Maxx, Panera Bread and Sprouts, a grocery chain specializing in healthy food. Altogether the shopping center, slated to open this July, has leased about 90 percent of available retail space, according to the story.

“It goes to show that at least in the Bay Area, the economy is turning around,” said Katie Singer, a real estate agent for Terranomics told the North Bay Business Journal.

Three other deals at the shopping center are reportedly in advanced negotiation stages and should be finalized shortly, according to the article.

Overall, Realistic Citizen, you're NOT very REALISTIC in your take on Retail Biz. Pimping out our limited geography while squeezing out our local merchants is not economically sustainable. Point in fact is one of our closest cities, Rohnert Park, followed that philosphy and the result. Now they desperately need the Casino to float their boat. But then, hey, don't we have a possible Casino flanking us to oour immediate south now? Follow the money folks. National retailers are not the answer and they only momentairly are.

I cannot wait for the new shopping area. I am very tired of driving to another city to get a decent birthday gift or nice Home item. Plus our small town can really use the tax review! Go shopping.....stimulate the economy....breath! 

Get ready, that old news will get alot more prevalent. As the local merchants move out, the laments will get stronger, and with good reason. National retailers are a joke when it comes to sustainability. RP is desperate, but notice Berkeley, and San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and Carmel are doing very well, due to their local merchants and restrictions of National Retailers. You cannot argue with the economic facts. Wake up and smell the coffee folks. Cannabalism is even eating the Nationals own stores. But hey, they just pull up their tilt up stakes and move onto newer terrain when they push the Multiple store closure button. It's their National mode of operation manuel that guides them.
