While the two would rather not reveal how they ranked each of the burritos in their self-styled taste test — they did both agree on which burrito was the best (Alvarado focused on vegetarian, while Blondino ate beef).

Based on Dirk's recommendation (sneak preview for me, of course) I went to Taqueria La Mexicana last week and had their burrito. It was quite tasty — with a spicy kick I haven't tasted before in other burritos. I'll be working my way down the list little by little.

My fave is always Tres. Friendly staff, clean restaurant, fun people always hanging out there, and oh the chips. The lime is nice for the coke (or cerveza) and their burritos are awesome. Their chili rellanos are the best though. For me, much better than Happy Taco's. This was a fun poll, coupled with Dirk's odyessy.

Kristine - try the fried chicken at La Mexicana. Takes about 10 minutes for them to cook fresh but worth the wait. Outstanding.

Thanks for the tip, Brian — had no idea this was one of their specialties.

So this article is confusing. Is Dirk Alvardeos and Mike Blondino burrito specialists? Are they chefs? Do they have their own burrito shop? Who are they and what makes them experts in burritos? The article would be interesting if these two men had some kind background in food or any background at all.

I looked up Mike Blondino and Dirk and they are NO specialists of food whatsoeever, just a couple of regular guys who are city employees. Booooo! This article makes NO SENSE.
