Great Escape: Coastside Edition

To experience a bit of true alchemy, heal the skin from the inside out with a facial/massage combo at Bamboo Hair & Body.

Last week, Great Escape recommended taking an Italian cooking class to escape from the doldrums of your kitchen and feel like you’re on a culinary tour of Italy.

This week, reprieve comes in the form of healing your skin from the inside out with a special combination treatment: a massage with facial at the Zen-like oasis in Half Moon Bay.

“Our special right now is a facial/massage combo for $140 with a savings of $25,” said Shana Scatena, a natropath who is also one of Bamboo’s licensed estheticians. Scatena and her colleagues at Bamboo offer a broad range of services to purify, rejuvenate and replenish skin.

Or, try the Bamboo Healing Facial for “a mind, body, soul face over,” Scatena said. “It’s all my facials in one, customized for each person, adding warm and cool stones.”

With a Doctorate in Naturopathy from Clayton College of Natural Health, Scatena  believes awareness of one's body and an educated understanding of one's skin will ultimately result in the client's ability to reach their desired goals. At Bamboo Hair & Body, Scatena and her colleagues say they are dedicated to creating a relaxed, fulfilling and exceptional spa experience.

“The most popular service right now would be a facial and body waxing with summer right around the corner,” said Scatena.

Eyebrows, lip, Brazilian, arms and legs are just some of the waxing services available.

Be on the lookout for some exciting changes at Bamboo Hair & Body. Next door, Bamboo Body & Soul, a new yoga and couples massage studio, is slated to open this spring.

“We’re also adding educational workshops in the near future,” said Scatena.
