Half Moon Bay Brewery Opens Outdoor Beer Garden

An opening party to celebrate the new space is tonight.

One of Half Moon Bay’s most popular beach bars — known for its handcrafted beer, sustainable coastal cuisine, scenic outdoor patio, firepits, and live music — recently expanded its outdoor space.

The Half Moon Bay Brewing Company added 1,200 square feet of private outdoor space to their outdoor seating area.

Called the Mavericks Beer Garden, this new addition is located between the main restaurant and the brewery and seats 50 guests. The Beer Garden, which features its own bar and stage, teak tables and chairs and heat lamps, is available for private events and will be open to the public on busy, sunny weekends.

To celebrate, the restaurant and bar are hosting an opening party this evening from 4 to 6 p.m., introducing the 2011 Maverick’s Oktoberfest Ale, an amber-colored German Lager made with German Munich malt and Hallertau hops. Also, local artist Ellen Joseph will be on hand signing copies of her Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival 2011 commemorative poster, “Pumpkins by the Sea.”

Chef Gaston Alfaro will be serving up his Oktoberfest menu items, including tastes of Smoked Pork with sauerkraut, Bratwurst served with Mavericks Ale and paprika sauce, and Potato Cakes with apple sauce.
