*Coastside Film Society’s screening of “3 Idiots”

Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, 8 p.m., Tickets $8

777 Miramontes St

Half Moon Bay, CA 94044

If you have never seen a Bollywood blockbuster, or if you have seen one and was put off by the general cheesiness of some films in this genre, the Coastside Film Society has a treat for you.

3 Idiots is not only a superlative comedy, it's also a great coming of age drama, morality tale, and musical all rolled into one. It is not only the highest-grossing Bollywood film ever made, many film critics have already labelled it an instant classic — a film that is going to stand the test of time.

The story centers on three friends who meet while attending a prestigious engineering college in India. Indian superstar Aamir Khan plays Rancho, the charismatic leader of the trio. He's a genius prankster who is not only the top ranked student at the school, but also the bane of school's administration whose rigid rules he constantly mocks and challenges. He works hard to get his friends to stop worrying so much about grades and instead to devote more energy into following their dreams (not everyone is destined to be an engineer).

*12th Annual Citywide Garage Sale and Goodwill Event

Saturday, Sept. 24,2011, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Various locations in Half Moon Bay. Click here for more information.

At last year’s event, over 135 participants throughout the City held sales which drew prospective buyers from all over the Bay Area. The Goodwill donation event held on the same day resulted in 35,000 pounds of donations from 200 donors. The city would like to thank the buyers and sellers who participated in the 2010 event and encourage them and others to participate again this year and make it an even greater success!

Residents can register up to the day before the event using the online registration form, but those who wish to have their sales included on any printed maps must register their sales by September 14. After registering, download a 2011 Garage Sale "How To" Kit with tips for having a successful sale, such as coordinating with neighbors for a neighborhood sale. These larger sales tend to draw more attention from customers and provide a great way to get to know your neighbors.

Just prior to the event, the online Garage Sale Map which includes sellers’ sale item categories and descriptions of notable items will be available from this web page.

Items in good condition that are not sold at garage sales may be donated to the Goodwill which will be operating a donation center from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Johnston Street near City Hall on the same day as the Citywide Garage Sale. Please see Goodwill’s list of acceptable and unacceptable items.

Remember, by opting to pass along reusable items to others rather than taking them to the dump, you will conserve natural resources, reduce the burden on the local landfill, help out others in the community, and make some money in the process! We look forward to your participation!
