Business name: Goose & Turrets B&B, 835 George St., Montara
What is your business known for? Outstanding breakfasts and gardens.
Why did you choose Montara to open your business? Raymond was first sent to Montara in 1952 by the U.S. Air Force. He came in August from Biloxi, MS, and when he discovered there was a place by the ocean where he needed a sweater and jacket in August, he knew that was the place he eventually wanted to settle permanently. The weather makes the B&B not a seasonal business, and we love being in a small, friendly village near the beach.
When and how did your business get started? Started in 1986 when we bought a 1907 house in Montara and converted it into a traditional bed and breakfast. We love cooking and entertaining and offer our guests afternoon tea and conversation and generous four-course breakfasts in the morning. We have about an acre of gardens and grow a lot of the food we use. The house is decorated with artifacts from our 50 years of travel.
What's something interesting about your business your customers might not know? Between us, we have lived in Egypt, England, France, Tennessee, and Beirut and have travelled much of the world. We bring gustatory traditions from all of those places.

Does your business offer a special deals card or program? We offer a "frequent sleeper" program. Stay 10 nights and get one free.
