New Vendors at Pescadero Grown! Farmer's Market Today

Smoked fish producer and county beekeepers among new additions.

In its second week of operation, the has added three new vendors to its lineup of local producers.

Organized by South Coast-based nonprofit organization , the market is the first in the unincorporated communities of Pescadero, LaHonda, Loma Mar and San Gregorio to accept food stamps and WIC (Women, Infant and Children) vouchers.

According to Kerry Lobel, Director of Puente, this evening's market features the following vendors:

Lobel is also encouraging market shoppers to bring school supplies to the market for "Team Backpack," the organization's annual school supply drive for students in the La Honda - Pescadero School District.

This year, she says, Puente is seeking donations for 200 students.

Desired items include writing instruments, binders, art supplies, rulers, calculators, water bottles, reusable lunch bags, and small packages of tissues.

Cash donations are also welcomed, Lobel said, and should be dropped off at the Puente office in Pescadero.

Donations should be dropped off by July 31.

The market will be open today (and subsequent Thursdays until November) from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Pescadero School (620 North St., Pescadero).
