Rock the Block Celebrates This Year With Holy Ghost Festival

The annual Coastside block party will be held during the Portuguese Pentecostal Festival (Holy Ghost Festival) this year.

The 8th annual Rock the Block, a Coastside block party that invites local residents to congregate with friends and neighbors in downtown Half Moon Bay, will take place this year on Saturday, May 18, during the Portuguese Pentecostal Festival (Holy Ghost Festival) on Main Street between La Piazza and IDES Hall from 4 to 8:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the event benefit the lighting of the trees down Main Street, the Half Moon Bay Coastside Chamber and local scholarships.

"We are very excited to host the event during this Coastside tradition," said Half Moon Bay Chamber of Commerce president Charise McHugh in a prepared press release. "Having Coastsiders learn about the historical significance of the Holy Ghost Festival and Chamarita will be a great added benefit to what is already a favorite event."

Beginning at 4 p.m., the streets will be filled with a variety of booths offering fun raffles and give-aways, like special makeovers and more. La Corrozza will be providing carriage rides around downtown Half Moon Bay starting at the east corner of Main and Miramontes Streets as well.

Also new this year, the Coastal Access Shuttle Service will launch from Harbor Village at 4 p.m. on it’s maiden voyage to the Main Street Passport Shuttle stop at La Piazza. Shuttle service will run continuously between Harbor Village and Main Street until 11 p.m. Additional pick up/drop off locations on the route include Cameron’s Inn & Pub.
