Sam's Coffee Shop: Breakfast And Lunch On A Budget

It's not so easy to find good food on a budget nowdays -- much less a place with most everything on the menu under $10 -- in downtown Half Moon Bay.

Impossible, you say?

Look no further, as Sam's Coffee Shop in Half Moon Bay, a breakfast and lunch diner hidden away in the middle of a small shopping center at the corner of Main St. and Highway 92, fits the bill.

If you like simple coffee shops with lots of character and no modern frills, then Sam's is for you.

There's a wide range of items on the menu, including 3-egg omelets with toast and the choice of hash browns, red potato home fries or fruit; eggs, sausage and pancake combinations; a soup of the day (today's soup is chicken gumbo); hot and cold sandwiches; and a variety of salads.

Linguica Portuguese sausage features into many of their omelets. The Sam's Special omelet #2, with linguica, onion, spinach, avocado and choice of cheese, was made with fresh ingredients and generous slices of avocado.

Vegetarian options include omelets (spinach, onion, mushrooms, and cheese), veggie burgers, and an avocado salad.

And for you big spenders out there -- an order of New York steak and eggs will set you back $13.15.
