Tom Brady Game Jersey Sells for Thousands at Super Bowl Auction

Jersey of San Mateo native was purchased by an anonymous buyer on Saturday.

An anonymous buyer has paid $46,000 for a football jersey worn by New England Patriots quarterback and Serra High School alumni in an NFL game, according to a report from the Associated Press.

The 2011 game jersey was purchased at The Super Bowl XLVI Live Auction in Indianapolis on Saturday, tripling the item's presale estimated value, Hunt Auctions reports.

Brady wore the jersey during the Oct. 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Patriots will play the New York Giants in the today in Indianapolis.

In its fourth year, the auction is an annual event produced by Pennsylvania-based Hunt Auctions in partnership with NFL Auction and the NFL Players, according to the AP.
