Your Guide to Farmer's Markets in Half Moon Bay, Pescadero, Princeton and La Honda

Opening day in the upcoming week for most, while the fourth celebrates its third week in operation.

Three farmer's markets along the Half Moon Bay Coastside will open for the 2012 season in the coming week. The Pescadero Grown! Farmer's Market debuts on Thursday, Half Moon Bay will ring its opening bell on Saturday, and La Honda's market will open next week on May 8.

The Land and Sea Farmer's Market — the newest offering located in Princeton — returns on Sunday for the third time.

The biggest local Farmers market I know of is the Daly City Farmers’ Market at Serramonte Center (right behind the Target at the Mall). About a mile off of Rt 1 at the top of the Hill in Pacifica at the Serramonte exit This one is open Thursdays and Saturdays from 9am – 1pm, year round. Strawberries are coming back in force this week http://www.flickr.com/photos/armadillosoft/6972568060/ and peas are just starting to show up. Apples are about to run out, but Asian Pears have just arrived. The best place I have found for a wide variety of organic cauliflower. http://www.flickr.com/photos/armadillosoft/6968266295/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/armadillosoft/3968728965/ I am especially fond of the mushroom grower who brings dozens of varieties of mushroom to his tent twice a week . I always ask the guy what is good that week and he freely gives recommendations of what is best. http://www.flickr.com/photos/armadillosoft/7099256265/in/set-72157629867211663/ I also hit the market in Pacifica on the way to to the city when it is open. Unfortunately it does not seem to be open early enough in the morning or late enough for someone making a 9 to 5 commute through Pacifica to catch.
