Brush Fire Near Half Moon Bay Controlled
Commute traffic on Highway 92 is not affected.

Update, 6:15 p.m. -- Firefighters have controlled a one-alarm brush fire that burned near state Highway 92 near Half Moon Bay Monday afternoon, a San Mateo County fire dispatcher said.

3:10 p.m. -- Multiple agencies are responding to a brush fire that is burning near state Highway 92 near Half Moon Bay, a San Mateo County fire dispatcher said.

The fire, first reported at 2:17 p.m., is burning in the area of 12950 San Mateo Road, which is also known as Highway 92. Cal Fire and San Mateo County firefighters are responding to the scene, a dispatcher said.
Kathie Repetto, a local resident who operates a floral business at 12331 San Mateo Road said the brush fire is far enough away that it is not disrupting traffic in the area. “It’s way up in the brush,” Repetto said, adding that she saw up to four fire trucks and a helicopter responding to the blaze. “They may be taking water out of our creek,” she guessed.

This isn’t the first time Repetto has seen a brush fire in the area. “We had one about four years ago,” she recalled. Repetto said the response to today’s blaze is similar to what she saw previously.
An employee at a nearby fruit stand added that several bulldozers also have been brought into the area to help contain the fire. Officials haven’t yet determined the cause of the blaze.
