Commemorating Memorial Day in Half Moon Bay

The American Legion Coastside Post #474 remembered those who gave their lives in service to the nation.

The American Legion Coastside Post #474 in Princeton commemorated those who gave their lives in defense of the nation with a Memorial Day Service this morning. Speakers recited quotes from the Gettysburg Address and an assortment of poems, along with sharing personal stories of friends and loved ones lost in the wars. Honor was paid to those POWs and MIAs still unaccounted for. Taps was performed by local trumpeter Jacob Hines.

"It's not a large gathering, but it is the same ceremony played out around the country, an important ceremony memorializing those who gave their lives and remembering the POWs and MIAs," Coastside Post Adjutant Charlie Hall said.

An interview with members of the American Legion recorded in May of 2010 on the local 1710 Neighborhood Radio Station was replayed. You can hear that interview on the Neighborhood Radio web site. The Memorial Day interview is 25 minutes into the program.
