Designs of Future BART Trains to be Displayed in Millbrae

The public's input is welcome for the next generation of BART trains.

On July 20, BART announced that it will work with BMW to design its new cars for 2017.

Over the next few weeks, BART will host a series of events seeking the public's input on the new train design.

The new concept will facilitate passengers entering and exiting the train, according to DesignworksUSA. The cars will also feature adaptive interior color lighting that will change throughout the day with sunlight conditions.

According to BART, the system has the oldest running trains in the country, most of which are still in operation from BART’s opening in September 1972. BART hopes the new trains will attract more commuters from the Bay Area’s freeways. 

The Open House closest to Pacifica will be held in Millbrae on August 17 and 18. A full list of show dates can be found here, and select others are as follows:
