Fishing Boat Strikes Rocks Near Mavericks
More than 200 gallons of diesel fuel was successfully removed from the vessel to prevent pollution from the wreck.
A 45-foot fishing boat ran aground near the Maverick's surf break off of the San Mateo County coast on Saturday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Units responded to a report of a vessel that struck some rocks outside of Pillar Point Harbor at about 3:10 a.m.
The Coast Guard launched a 47-foot motor lifeboat, the 87-foot cutter Tern and a helicopter from Air Station San Francisco in response to the emergency, according to the Coast Guard.

One person who was aboard the fishing boat "Fjord Queen II" when it ran aground was safely pulled from the water by the Pillar Point Harbor Master.
The Coast Guard, together with personnel from the Department of Fish and Game and the San Mateo County Park Rangers, successfully removed 240 gallons of diesel from the vessel to prevent pollution from the wreck, officials said.
