Half Moon Bay Man Arrested in Car Burglary Spree

Crimes in San Mateo prompt two arrests

San Mateo police say they have arrested two people suspected in a string of car burglaries in the north central part of the city.

Jose Luis Marquez, 30, of Half Moon Bay and Sommer Star Gonsalves, 19, of Redwood City were arrested early Tuesday morning after officers saturated the area in the hopes of catching the burglars in the act.

According to a San Mateo Police Department press release, “On the very first evening that this operational plan was put into service, Officer Steve Bennett spotted a vehicle” in the North Shoreview area which police had been looking for. Bennett pulled the vehicle over and arrested the two occupants on drug violations.
