PHOTOS: Opening Day On The Bay

The 2012 sailing season officially opens at the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club.

A good breeze filled the sails for opening day of the 2012 sailing season as declared by Rear Commodore John Connors of the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club (HMBYC).

Low clouds kept the temperature cool on Sunday, but spirits were high.

I was invited to ride aboard the 60-foot long yacht, the Baroness, which led a flotila of sailboats around Pillar Point Harbor for their annual celebration parade.

HMBYC programs focus on sailing. The club offers sailing instruction for adults and children and operates a fleet of club-owned small sailboats for use by qualified members. They organize races, explore kayaking, host visiting racers and cruisers, and offer a rich social calendar.
