Le Family Holds Gathering Tonight

They remain optimistic that missing nursing student can and will be found alive.

The family of missing San Mateo resident Michelle Le is holding another gathering in Hayward this evening in order to “urge law enforcement not to give up the search. We believe that she is still alive!”

Le disappeared May 27 from outside a Hayward hospital, and on Monday Hayward police said evidence has led them to believe that Le is not alive and to .

Investigators also have indicated they believe Le was killed by a person or people that she knew. Focus has intensified on a particular who police have called a “person of interest.”

The family remains unconvinced, however, citing a lack of information from police. They say tonight’s gathering is to urge police to collaborate more closely with the FBI in order to increase efforts at finding Le.

Le's family members say they still support Hayward police, but believe more can be done. The family's website stated:

“At a community gathering held one week after Michelle’s disappearance, a member of the Hayward Police Department stated that law enforcement would do everything in their power to bring Michelle home. However, over the weekend, three of the six personnel assigned to Michelle’s case went on vacation and the lead investigator was replaced with someone who has no experience working on missing persons cases.”

Community members are invited to attend. The gathering will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mountain Eden Park, Tennyson Road and Hesperion Boulevard, Hayward.
