Magnitude 3.9 Quake Rocks East Bay

The earthquake struck Thursday afternoon.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.2 rattled the Bay Area on Thursday afternoon.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake struck at 2:41 p.m. about 2 miles southeast of Berkeley and 5 miles northwest of Oakland.

The temblor had a depth of about 6.1 miles, according to the USGS.
