More Flights Canceled at SFO Due to Hurricane Irene

Travelers advised to not go to the airport unless their air carrier has confirmed that their flights will depart as scheduled.

Dozens of flights between San Francisco International Airport and the East Coast were canceled again today, even as major airports in the Northeast resumed operations in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.

Airport spokesman Mike McCarron said five departures and 26 arrivals have been canceled at SFO today.

All major airports in the Northeast that had been shut down by the storm indicated that they were reopening today, McCarron said.

Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines to get the latest information on the status of their flights, regardless of their final destinations, McCarron said.

Travelers were also advised to not go to the airport unless their air carrier has confirmed that their flights will depart as scheduled.
