PHOTOS OF THE DAY: Dog Days at the Harbor

Riley and his guardians caught enjoying a sunny day on the coast.

Spotted enjoying a relaxing lunch at Caffe : 8-year-old English pointer-mutt Riley and his two companions/guardians, Gita Dev and Tim Martin of Woodside.

Dev and Martin adopted Riley from Pets in Need in Redwood City, a no-kill shelter. Riley was picked up from a shelter in Modesto and taken in by Pets in Need, Dev said.

Dev is one-third of , three friends who contribute to one blog at Redwood City Patch. The name comes from combining all three of their names in one word.

Pets in Need is awesome and now has a nice new building in Redwood City. You can even check out dogs and cats for adoption on-line - especially the ones who are in Foster homes. We got Riley when he was 2 months old and he has been a wonderful companion. What would we do without our canine (and feline) friends! Full disclosure- Riley has a somewhat different opinion of the feline "friends" - we are working on this.

Hi! We are so thrilled to see a Pets In Need alumni out enjoying life with his family! We totally remember this guy...way back from 2003! We were named him Beatnik because he was scruffy and laid back. And now he's famous...we can say we knew him when...! Thank you for being such wonderful pet parents! (We have lots of great dogs and cats ready to go in our new shelter.)
