Power Line Failure Closes Portola Valley Road

Residents in the area lost power early this morning, and the road is closed while repairs progress.

A road in the rural San Mateo County community of Portola Valley - south of Half Moon Bay - was closed this morning because of downed high-voltage power lines, county emergency officials said.

Los Trancos Road was closed at Alpine Road, and county officials were urging motorists to use alternate routes.

PG&E spokesman Joe Molica said the wires went down just before 7 a.m., causing an outage that affected about 1,100 customers.

He said around 8:40 a.m. that PG&E had restored power to all but 355 customers and was working to get power back to the remaining residents.
